Christmas with the Bonney’s

In the morning of the day after Christmas Eric’s mom and I went shopping. I have never been out the morning after Christmas to shop but this year I wanted to catch a few of the sales. My 30th birthday party is going to be a “Winter Wonderland” theme with all silver and white so I wanted to get some of the marked down decorations. I managed to get almost everything I needed to decorate the party on my shopping spree.

That afternoon Eric and I went to celebrate Christmas down at my grandparents’ house with my mom’s side of the family. My grandfather always cooks a turkey, a Pungo turkey, which was raised, cleaned, and killed by my Flanagan family! Farm raised turkeys are the best. We had a great meal.

After we ate we played the game, “Remember when…” and everyone had to share a family story that they remembered. My grandmother read from an old Agenda book that she had where she had recorded the minutes from their “Family Meetings” when my mother, Aunt Cathy, and Uncle Brad were growing up. We laughed at how the minutes were written so professionally with each child having to report what they had done for the week and how they had spent their weekly allowance. I plan on keeping our family tradition going of holding Family Meetings when Eric’s and my children are old enough.

Later that day we played the Wii a little and then opened presents. Some of the gifts included: My Uncle Brad (the upholster) had made awesome pillows for Aunt Cathy and Mom-Mom as their Christmas gifts. My Aunt Cathy had made my grandparents a beautiful scrapbook of their life together. My grandmother got a Pashmina and my dog got her usually gift from Aunt Cathy, a toy! I also got a very nice gift from a friend of my dad’s (Connie) who had recently been down to visit my grandparents. Connie had left me a baby present the last time she visited them and I was finally able to open it. She had given me a designer diaper bag, a Storksac, filled with lots of amazing baby items. It had a pad (Padalilly) that you Velcro around the car seat handle so it doesn’t hurt your arm, fancy burp cloths, swaddle blanket, CD’s, and a little finger puppet. I was so surprised about everything! She got the bag and items from this cool maternity store at Hiltop called, “Now Showing.” I plan to go there and check it out.

I talked with my Uncle Brad about possibly making rocking chair cushions for me and my grandmother told me that her and my grandfather would be buying us our changing table! I thought it was really neat that my Mom-mom told me they had bought my changing table before I was born. They also had given us Christmas money that we can buy the crib with for the baby! Aunt Cathy, Kristen, and I also scheduled my shower that they will be giving me in February.

We had such a great time being together. We took an updated “cousins pic” and as you can tell I’m still the shortest one in the family.
