Annaliese and I were given a spectacular shower by my aunts, cousin, and family friend. Since Annaliese came on her my Shower day we had to reschedule. We decided that we had better go ahead with the shower this weekend we were afraid if we waited too long it might not happen. Plus some of the desserts we were able to freeze for a week and they were still good. Also Amber’s house was already decorated for the shower so we just left everything up. I was very leery about taking the baby out because I hadn’t planned to take her out for the first few months of her life other than going to the doctor but this day just couldn’t be helped. Annaliese was NOT passed around except for being held by a few members of my family that had already held her anyway. She was the “centerpiece” of our decorations…just to look at! She did great for the shower. Everyone ooohed and aaahed over her. She looked so cute in her party dress that Grammy and Scrammy (Aunt Loretta) bought her. As the guests arrived they were to write messages on Pampers for Eric and I to read during our late night changings. The messages were hilarious. We started out the shower with games. Eric had been secretly interviewed by Amber, Taylor, and Aunt Loretta the week before and had been asked a series of questions. The guests had to guess how Eric would answer each question. The game was hard but so much fun…even though I didn’t do very well. Then we played another game with Fun Facts about pregnancy and babies. After games we ate all of the delicious food that had been prepared for the second time (Sorry guys!). If you notice in the picture we have both boy and girl cupcakes because we didn’t know Baby Thames was going to be a girl when they were made. Also if you notice that some of the decorations were gender neutral and some were pink. That’s because my family decided that the decorations looked too much like a boy and so they changed the whole look of the shower to be more girly. After the food we opened presents. Since Annaliese was still eating every two hours she decided that she was hungry right when we started the presents. So…I nursed her while Lauren and Chase opened my presents for me. My showered had been themed a “Book Shower” so everyone was asked on the invitation to bring a book instead of a card. I was overwhelmed with the amazing books and presents that Annaliese got. The neat thing was that some people that had originally bought clothes took them back and got girl outfits when they found out I had had a girl…how nice of them! The shower was a great success and I am so glad that we went ahead and had it. Even though it was Easter weekend most people found the time to come. I am grateful to everyone that rearranged their schedule on a holiday weekend just to spend time with Annaliese and I. I love all of you guys…thank you!
